BMW launches automated driving project in China with Baidu 宝马与百度合作在中国推广无人驾驶项目

BMW is now cooperating with Chinese internet giant Baidu to start highly automated driving tests in urban highways in Beijing and Shanghai.

BMW has already undergone thousands of kilometers of trails of autonomous driving in German. And now this project will expand to China. “China’s fast-expanding urban centers present the engineers with challenges such as multi-level highways.”

Baidu runs the largest search engine of China, and is also a provider of map services. BMW will need Baidu’s support in high-resolution map, and downing detailed map with telecoms and internet connections on the go.
